myOPALE - Modular Building Blocks for AI on the Edge

ECRIN Systems designs and manufactures rugged VPX COTS Boards, Mil-COTS and rugged systems, and their core business is the integration of COTS building blocks from Open Standard form factors like PICMG 1.3, to achieve the best system performance at reduced cost and shortest time to market.

Read More about ECRIN Systems

One of their latest solutions is the myOPALE building block system, which provides truly disruptive technology to realise ambitious design goals for industrial computers that target size, weight, and power consumption (SWaP)-constrained operating environments.

The myOPALE modular concept is based on four key points, all inspired by open or de facto standards used in the embedded market. It eliminates the mechanical link between the CPU module and its I/O cards thanks to PCI Express Gen3-over- cable interconnection in a standard half-height 5.25-inch casing.

The design is based on COM Express Type 6 and integrates Embedded Low Power SKU’s with 10 years life support. In Skylake and Kaby Lake versions, Intel Core i7 or Xeon E3-1500 CPU with Chipset platforms are selected, which directly drive 24 PCIe Gen3 lanes as their expansion bus.

There are a wide range of configurations and options available. If you would like to discuss the myOPALE concept please contact us at info@sarsen.net.

ECRIN can provide a complete integrated computer with Environmental Qualification Tests passed and mandatory Certification stickers for domestic and export countries. ive 24 PCIe Gen3 lanes as their expansion bus.

In the Spotlight - Trenton Systems Medical Imaging Technology

'Medical Imaging' is the process used to create images of the human body to reveal, diagnose, or examine disease or injury. There are a variety of types, each using specific technology to generate a different image.
Sarsen Technology supplies high speed data acquisition and powerful embedded computing hardware for these kinds of applications -
  • Computed Tomography (CT Scanning)
  • Digital Radiography
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
  • Nuclear Medicine Imaging
  • Medical Image Processing
  • Cardiovascular X-ray
Advances in medical imaging technology mean image quality and rendering speed are always being improved. X86 multi-core processor innovations supply increased processing power while reducing cost and size, which allows departments like Ultrasound, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Medicine Imaging (NMI) and Cardiovascular X-ray to benefit from advances in high performance computing and image processing.

Medical system technology also has very demanding support requirements. Once stringent medical equipment approvals are in place, customers rely on their suppliers for long-term product supply and support.

To meet the needs of the medical industry, Trenton Systems designs products with longevity and reliability in mind, using processors with 7 year availability and offering a 5 year factory warranty on single board computers, backplanes and embedded motherboards. Conduant's 'Big River NTX16' in the Sarsen Spotlight

This week we're sharing all our trade secrets about the Big River NTX16 PCI Express Recorder from Conduant Corp!

Conduant Corp. designs and manufactures real-time, long-duration digital recording and playback disk systems. But unlike traditional general purpose disk storage, Conduant’s products ensure reliable, guaranteed and sustained performance in increments of 800 MB/s. Now thats something you don't see every day.....

The key to Conduant’s technology is the innovative way data is recorded; directly from a third party source, bypassing the bottlenecks that can occur in traditional recording systems.

The Big River™ NTX16 recording system provides up to 800 MB/s recording and playback performance in a 3U rack mount chassis. The system can operate independently from a host computer with command and control performed over a network connection. Control can be automated from a software application using the StreamStor® software API from a network connected computer.

A cabled PCI Express interface provides high speed connectivity to a host computer for command and control or data access, and can be used to connect to nearly any computing architecture, such as PCI Express, XMC, VME, VPX, VXS, AMC or other mezzanine / backplane environments.

Solutions are even available for connection to notebook computers!

Features include:
  • Peer-to-peer PCI Express recording and playback capability
  • Performance independent of host load
  • Standalone capable operation with network command/control
  • Sustained recording and playback at up to 800 MB/s
  • Rear PCI Express cabling
  • 3U chassis at only 21” deep
  • Scalable data storage capacities up to 48TB
  • Solid-state or magnetic disk drive media
  • Cabled PCI Express (x8) for full speed data access
For even more information on the digital recording and playback systems from Conduant please get in touch with us here at Sarsen. There are 9 different ways... pick any one. But we'll have to whisper it.....!!

In safe hands....

It’s been a funny old week for the folks at Sarsen Technology.

Car troubles, email issues and ‘ghost’ phone calls have made us think about how much technology we use every day, and how much it can affect us when said technology doesn’t work exactly how it should.
Fortunately, we represent 10 manufacturers who know how important it is that their products are reliable, and perform exactly how they should when you need them to.
Trenton Systems,  GA, offer an impressive 5 year warranty on all of their Embedded Motherboards, PICMG® 1.3 System Host Boards, PICMG® 1.3 backplanes and PICMG® AMC.0 (AdvancedMC) products. Trenton products are used in a wide variety of applications, such as industrial automation, military & aerospace, medical, telecom, professional video & graphics and data storage, and they have developed what is arguably the most reliable array of products in the field, moving them to the forefront of industrial PC-compatible equipment suppliers.

Trenton board and system products are built tough to survive and thrive in demanding industrial computing environments, and they offer "designed to meet" rugged system solutions as well as mil-certified products to standards such as MIL-STD-810.

Friday 13th. Unlucky for some?

Paraskevidekatriaphobia, or the morbid, irrational fear of Friday 13th, affects as many as 21 million people across the world. Fortunately the fear of a date, and it's lucky or unlucky effect, doesn't affect educated, sophisticated business professionals.
. . . . . . Or does it?

Not at Sarsen Technology! Friday 13th July is the day that culminates a great week for the team. And there's not a black cat in sight!

This week we have had the pleasure of hosting Dwight Justice - VP Sales at Trenton Technology. We have taken him all over the country, talking to customers about the fantastic Trenton product range. We've spoken to a range of markets, including Communications, Displays, High Speed Finance and Military. Trenton have released some brand new products, check them out here - Newsletter.

It's the Marlborough Jazz Festival this weekend. It kicks off tonight with performances from the fantastically named The Filthy Six, and Brewin Dolphin Newcomer nominee the Jessica Mary York Quintet. Saturday sees performances from a Sarsen Technology favourite Eduardo Niebla Trio, and The Jive Aces, fresh from the finals of Britains Got Talent. You can buy tickets here - Tickets

With another full week of appointments coming up, we are all looking forward to a well deserved rest this weekend.

Have a good one!
