Why Do We Ask for End User Statements?

The U.S. Government controls exports of sensitive equipment, software and technology as a way of promoting their national security interests and foreign policy objectives.

We work with a number of manufacturing partners based in the United States, and some of them make a practice of requesting End Use Statements for all international orders, and for all items, whether a license is technically required or not.

This includes items that are coded as EAR 99, which means that they are still subject to Export Administration Regulations, but they don't have an Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) on the Commerce Control List.

The majority of the boards and systems that we sell are considered 'dual-use', and do have an ECCN, rather than an EAR 99 classification, which is why our partners record the end user information for their products. By obtaining the "End User Statement" they are able to properly identify any license requirements and exceptions.

If you have any problems completing an End User Statement for one of our partners we are here to help. Please contact the team here on 01672 511166 and we can go through it with you step by step.

ISO 9001 - Exactly What it Says in the Manual...

As part of our commitment to quality and service Sarsen Technology became ISO certified way back in the early ‘00s.

This is an ongoing responsibility that we take very seriously, so much so that we choose to be independently audited twice every year to keep our processes in tip-top shape. And ISO 9001 is more than just a certificate. It is an internationally recognised standard, accepted in over 100 countries, and more importantly by our customers, many of whom wouldn’t work with us if we didn’t have it.

Old school thinking said that ISO 9001 certification was designed for large organisations, but it is also hugely important for SMEs like Sarsen Technology, helping us to develop efficient quality management systems that save time and money, improve efficiency and ultimately improve customer relationships.

Although our Quality Manual is a hefty tome, it allows us to implement ISO 9001 in a straightforward, easily managed way. We are all clear about what we need to do and how; we don't have to spend time 'making things up' or 'finding things out' – it’s all there. You might say we’re like a well-oiled machine!

Our latest audit takes place on Tuesday, and we’re looking forward to being able to support our customers for another year with ISO9001 certified quality and service.

If you have any questions about our quality processes or ISO 9001 please get in touch – info@sarsen.net.

Have a great weekend!

7 Reasons to Choose United Electronic Industries for all your Data Acquisition and Control Requirements......

Founded in 1990, United Electronic Industries (UEI) is a leader in the PC/Ethernet data acquisition and control, Data Logger/Recorder and Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) markets. Their ‘Cube’ chassis offers incredible I/O flexibility, accommodating up to 6 I/O boards from a selection of over 25. Sarsen Technology has represented UEI in the UK for nearly 2 years.

There are so many reasons why you would benefit from choosing a UEI solution; these are just a handful….

1.       They get around….
UEI products are used in a huge variety of applications, including Simulator I/O, in-vehicle test (flight and ground), UAV/ULV/USV control, electronic production test, machine and vehicle health monitoring, temperature monitoring, wind power system control, vehicle frame stress testing, jet engine test and much more. Whether your application is on the ocean floor, on land or boat, in the air, or in space, UEI products have been there!

2.       Thinking outside the ‘Cube’
UEI have over 25 different available I/O layers, as well as a host of other boards and accessories, meaning they can be creative in finding innovative solutions for customers, responding to their needs with standard products and variations so they can complete their systems successfully, on time, and within budget. UEI offers both COTS and custom products to OEMs, end-users, and systems integrators worldwide.

3.       Green is the new Black
All Cube and RACKtangle™ chassis products and accessories are fully RoHS Compliant. This includes all UEI products that begin with: DNA, DNR, UEIPAC, UEISIM or UEILOGGER, including all chassis, I/O boards and accessories.

4.       Speaking your language
UEI supports all popular Windows, Vista, Linux and Real-time operating systems, programming languages, and application packages such as LabVIEW, MATLAB, and DASYLab.

5.       Location, Location, Location
United Electronic Industries is represented in nearly all of the US States, as well as across the globe, as far as Australia and Japan. We are all eager to talk to you, and help you put together an ideal solution to match your application.

6.       Bend Me, Shape Me, Any Way You Want Me
The UEI cube is not in any way bendy. In fact it’s very rugged! But it is uniquely flexible, with the ability to be used as an Ethernet I/O slave, standalone data logger, a standalone Linux-based PAC or a Modbus Slave. With I/O interfaces for analog I/O, digital I/O, counter/timer, ARINC-429, quadrature encoder, CAN-bus, serial I/O and more, you can precisely match the I/O configuration to your application.

7.       They’re in it for the Long Haul
All hardware manufactured by UEI is warranted for 2 years to the original purchaser and UEI guarantees the availability of all RACKtangle/Cube series products for a minimum of 10 years.

If this hasn’t convinced you, give us a call or check out the UEI pages on our website for more information. http://www.sarsen.net/dept/united-electronic-industries_d0141.htm

Roadshow Update - Friday 2 October

The European Defence & Aerospace Manufacturing Technology Roadshow visited BAE Systems Aerosystems International in Yeovil on Friday 2nd October. There was a good turn out from a number of the departments at the site. The Trenton Systems 19" Rackmount embedded computing systems and the VersaLogic EBX format single board computers were the solutions of most interest. The Sarsen Technology sarsen stone/rock giveaways are still proving popular. Yeovil is a town dominated by helicopter technology and businesses focussed on that market. The Friday afternoon drive home was made more enjoyable by listening to the new CD compilation provided by Darren Taylor at BittWare. Thanks again Darren!

European Defence & Aerospace Manufacturing Technology Roadshow 2009 - Week 2

The roadshow has visited Roke Manor Research in Romsey, BAE Systems in Farnborough and Lockheed-Martin in Havant this week. Tomorrow it is Thursday so it must be GE Aviation in Cheltenham and on Friday it is BAE Systems Aerosystems International in Yeovil. This week the locations are very convenient for Sarsen as they are all about an hours drive north, south, east and west from Marlborough. Nigel's car sustained some damage returning from Goodrich last Friday. A tyre was punctured and then a truck ran over the jack whilst the wheel was being changed which resulted in the nearside wing mirror being ripped off. It could have been a lot worse but not the best way to end a long working week!
