WEAF Technology Showcase - April 2016
The WEAF Technology Showcase events are a rare opportunity to get to know who the innovators are, what they are doing and to identify opportunities for your own organisation. If you are seeking the answers to one or more of these questions the Technology Showcase could be for you.
Tony represented Sarsen Technology at the lastest Technology Showcase, held at Renishaw Plc. It was a great opportunity to learn about new technological developments in the sector, understand how other companies have maximised the benefit of their innovation, and allowed us to showcase selected product lines to developers and engineers who may not have been aware of them before.
Our display included the TRC2008 2U chassis from Trenton Systems, a selection of x86 boards from VersaLogic including the new Bengal 'Bay Trail' based module, and the Lumineq and BORA working model from DAVE Embedded Systems.
Check out the photos from the day below.
For more information on any of the products on display, or if you'd like to know more about WEAF please contact Tony Seal - tony.seal@sarsen.net or give us a call - 01672 511166.

The Sarsen Technology diary is filling up nicely for September 2013...
We’re taking part in the Dream Marketing Defence and Aerospace Roadshow, which is a 3 week travelling exhibition visiting some of the UK’s biggest design and manufacturing facilities, giving us the opportunity to demonstrate a variety of leading edge technologies directly to the engineers and developers (who don't always manage to visit more traditional trade shows!).
But before all that excitement, we have the small matter of a little show in London. You may have
heard of it….
The DSEI exhibition is the world’s largest defence and security event, bringing together the entire industry to introduce the latest equipment and systems, develop international relationships, and generate new business opportunities.
We are going to be joining Elie Gasnier, V.P. Sales and Marketing, on the Ecrin Systems stand – N7-468. Ecrin will be showcasing the small form factor MIL-STD-810 ‘ONYX’ embedded computer, a fanless system driven by an Intel Core i7 processor. Compact and rugged, the ONYX is an ideal choice for space constrained applications and harsh environmental conditions.

We are also going to be joining the Alterateam on stand S6-300, where we’ll be supporting some exciting Stratix V BittWare hardware. Altera will be running a live demo on the new
EW & Radar Development System, which, as its name suggests, is a development and testing platform designed specifically for electronic warfare and radar applications. The EW and Radar Dev System is a single-slot OpenVPX system including a BittWare Stratix V FPGA-based 6U VPX board, with a rear transition module for easy I/O access.

If you’re going to be at DSEI from 10-13 September 2013 why not get in touch and arrange a meeting with the team, or pop by stand S6-300 or N7-468 for an informal chat.

Sarsen Technology is Going on Tour!
The travelling exhibition begins on 16th September and lasts for 3 weeks, visiting some of the biggest names in the Defence and Aerospace marketplace including Rolls Royce, BAE Systems, GE Aviation and Thales.
![]() |
| Travelling Exhibitions have changed a bit over the years.... |
The vehicle itself is quite special. It expands to accommodate around 20 individual exhibition stands, which all have their own power supply, cupboard storage and lighting. Plenty of room for us to show you the good stuff.
We’ve been involved with the Roadshow in the past, and have found it a brilliant way of being able to get our technology in front of engineers and developers who unfortunately don't always get to visit more traditional trade shows.
The proposed schedule is as follows:
| Date | Venue | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Mon 16th Sep | BAE Systems | Barrow |
| Tues 17th Sep | Rolls-Royce | Derby |
| Wed 18th Sep | Selex | Luton |
| Thurs 19th Sep | Selex | Basildon |
| Fri 20th Sep | Goodrich | Pitstone |
| Mon 23th Sep | Messier Dowty | Gloucester |
| Tues 24th Sep | Cobham Mission Systems | Wimborne |
| Wed 25th Sep | Thales | Templecombe |
| Thurs 26th Sep | GE Aviation | Cheltenham |
| Fri 27th Sep | General Dynamics | Newport |
| Mon 30th Sep | BAE/MBDA | Filton |
| Tues 1st Oct | Rolls Royce | Bristol |
| Wed 2nd Oct | L-3 Comms | Tewkesbury |

'Financial February' from Sarsen Technology!
If it’s your first visit, welcome. If you’ve been here before, welcome back! If you accidentally clicked the wrong link you should stick around… You might learn something!
We started 2013 with Green Month. January has seen our blog feature some pretty cool technology involved in renewable energy, global warming data collection, utility monitoring and wind turbines, as well as our super-informative Spotlight Series.
This month is ‘Financial February’. We’ll be bringing you all the latest product news for the high speed financial trading market, available from our 10 US manufacturers. We will also be sharing all the insider news and views from our exhibition stand at the Low Latency Summit on February 19th in London. We’ll be on stand 105 alongside BittWare and their latest Altera Stratix V FPGA hardware and software technology, with a very special feature showcasing the OpenCL tools designed for low-latency financial trading.
If that wasn’t enough we’ll also be shining the Spotlight on another member of the Sarsen team, and sharing some more trade secrets about the exciting technology we are lucky enough to be involved with.
See you on Tuesday for the first Sarsen Spotlight post of February 2013!

Spotlight On… The First Exhibition of the Year!
Sarsen Technology will be at the Low Latency Summit with BittWare, showcasing the latest Altera Stratix V FPGA hardware for financial trading.
Held at the America Square Conference Centre on 19th Feb 2013, the Low Latency Summit focuses on the evolution of high performance technology underpinning profitable automated trading strategies, with a focus on real life experience from the European marketplace.
This is the only event for the financial markets to examine these kinds of technologies, and align them to the trading process. Alongside the conference program, an 'exhibits' area will allow real-life solutions to be demonstrated.
BittWare recently announced special pricing on their S5-PCIe-HQ PCIe COTS board, specifically for use with Altera's Software Development Kit (SDK) for OpenCL. The Altera SDK for OpenCL enables FPGAs to work in concert with the host processor to accelerate parallel computation, at a fraction of the power compared to hardware alternatives.
Come and meet the BittWare and Sarsen Technology teams on Stand 105 to learn more about the very latest Altera Stratix V FPGA hardware and software technology including the OpenCL tools designed for low-latency financial trading applications.
Full details of the event can be found on the www.low-latency.com web site.
We look forward to seeing you there!!
