Introducing the NXP QorIQ ARM Processor

The NXP QorIQ ARM processors, built on the revolutionary Layerscape architecture, provide next-generation processing performance and an array of I/O, including multiple Gigabit Ethernet ports, multiple PCI Express ports, USB, and SATA.

The LS10xx and LS20xx processor families on X-ES ARM-based single board computers and processor mezzanines are available in two, four, and eight-core configurations for scalable processing power and minimal power consumption, offering the most advantageous blend of performance.

XPedite6401
The XPedite6401 XMC/PrPMC is the first ARM-based processor module from X-ES. It features the latest NXP QorIQ 64-bit multicore ARM processor, targeting the LS1043A quad-core ARM A53 processor. The board has been designed with a focus on long life cycle support and future compatibility with the recently announced NXP LS1088A octal-core A53 and LS1046A quad-core A72 processors. The XPedite6401 will provide a scalable processing solution to meet a range of project needs and thermal requirements.

Coming Soon - XPedite6370
The XPedite6370 is a 3U VPX-REDI single board computer based on the NXP (formerly Freescale) QorIQ LS2088A processor. The LS2088A offers eight ARM® Cortex®-A72 CPUs, running at up to 2.0 GHz and integrates a 128-bit NEON™-based SIMD engine for each core. Wind River VxWorks, Linux, and Green Hills INTEGRITY Board Support Packages (BSPs) are available.

Not Recommended for New Designs - XCalibur1002 goes EOL

All good things come to an end. And the XCalibur1002 from Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) is no exception.

The XCalibur1002 uses a component that will reach end of life status in December 2013. This obsolescence event will effectively end the life of the XCalibur1002 product series.

We are offering a last time purchase of the EOL component to potentially extend the life of the XCalibur1002 for your application.

Unfortunately, after December 2013 we cannot guarantee the future availability of XCalibur1002 product.

If you are looking to replace your legacy product the recommended alternative is the XCalibur1600 - a Freescale eight-Core P4080-based 6U cPCI module. Wind River VxWorks, Linux, and Green Hills INTEGRITY Board Support Packages (BSPs) are available.

XCalibur1600

XCalibur1600 features -
  • Conduction or air cooling
  • Up to 16 GB of DDR3-1333 ECC SDRAM in two channels
  • Up to 512 MB of NOR flash (with redundancy)
  • Up to 64 GB of CPU NAND flash
  • Up to 128 GB of SATA NAND flash (optional)
  • Three Gigabit Ethernet ports
  • x4 PCI Express to XMC sites
  • Up to four SATA 3.0 Gb/s ports
  • Two USB 2.0 ports
  • Two RS-232/422/485 serial ports
  • XAUI to XMC site
  • Two PrPMC/XMC interfaces
If you would like any details of the EOL or the replacement product XCalibur1600 please get in touch with Sarsen Technology on +44 1672 511166 or email the sales team - sales@sarsen.net

Giving VMEBUS a new lease of life with the 4th Generation Intel Core i7 Haswell processor

VMEBUS is a 30 year old technology that has seen a rise in popularity recently, partly thanks to customers looking to refresh legacy systems rather than invest money in newer technology.

Far from seeing VME as on old technology, Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) offers Intel VME, PowerPC VME, and QorIQ VME Single Board Computers (SBCs) and carrier cards for embedded computing applications.

With both air-cooled and conduction-cooled boards, these products can be applied to a wide variety of embedded applications across military, communications, and commercial/industrial markets. X-ES have gone as far as to incorporate the new 4th generation Intel® Core™ i7 Haswell processor onto a 6U VME SBC.

The XCalibur4530 provides up to 32 GB DDR3L-1600 ECC SDRAM in two separate channels, two PrPMC/PrXMC slots, and up to 64 GB of NAND flash. The XCalibur4530 also hosts numerous I/O ports, including Gigabit Ethernet, UAB, SATA, graphics, mezzanine I/O, and RS-232/422/485 through the backplane connectors.

If you’re looking to refresh a legacy design, or if VME is simply your favourite and you can’t bear to look at another technology, give us a call – we can offer a range of form factors and technologies, including the new 4th Gen Core i7 processor.
