Let's Go, Cisco™! X-ES Embedded Router Running Cisco IOS

- Want to use Cisco IOS software?   Check.
- Have a very demanding application?   Check.
- No time for extra training?   Check.

Then you should check out the XPedite5205 from Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES).

The X-ES router uses the same Cisco IOS software that IT staff in the military, energy, public safety, and other industries are already trained on. Cisco IOS software provides highly secure data, voice, and video communications to stationary and mobile network nodes across wired and wireless links.

As a PMC/XMC module, the XPedite5205 can be retrofitted instantly for use in any available PMC or XMC site, leveraging 20 years of deployed VME, CompactPCI, VPX, and custom systems. It also can be mounted on an application-specific carrier card or used on an X-ES development carrier. The rugged XPedite5205 ESR module can be deployed in the harshest environments for embedded applications with SWaP constraints.

UHF, VHF, Wi-Fi and other radio platforms can be connected to the X-ES router in vehicles to create the network nodes used to form mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). With the ability to operate without a connection to central infrastructure, MANETs support military, public safety, emergency response, and transportation applications.

With a list of features as long as your arm, the XPedite5205 can be installed tomorrow in any vehicle or aircraft and/or deployed in the harshest of environments.
  • High performance in a small form factor
  • Portability
  • Low power consumption
  • Ability to handle harsh environments
  • Sophisticated networking capabilities such as quality of service (QoS) to ensure the most important data gets through when links are degraded, and security to protect the network and the data transmitted over the network.
  • Runs Cisco IOS software
  • Four integrated 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports
  • Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express (CME) support
  • Cisco Mobile Ready Net, which allows for mobile ad hoc networking and radio aware routing
  • On-board hardware acceleration
  • Integrated threat control using Cisco IOS Firewall, Cisco IOS Zone-based Firewall, Cisco IOS Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), and Cisco IOS Content Filtering
  • Identity management using authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) and public key infrastructure
  • PMC/XMC form factor
  • Conduction- or air-cooled
